Friday, October 9 — Arrivals & Kickoff

Afternoon & Evening: Arrivals

Early check-in is available for event volunteers, staff, and special requests. Backpackers begin arriving at trail start points coordinated with the committee (final routes confirmed June 2026). All other troops set up in the open field camping area.

Saturday, October 10 — Scoutcraft, Skills & Campfire

The main program day. From morning flags to the final embers of the campfire, a day of challenge and brotherhood.

7:00 AM – 9:00 AM — Troop Breakfasts

Individual troops prepare and eat breakfast at their campsites.

9:00 AM – 9:30 AM — Opening Ceremony

Camporee kick-off and opening ceremony at the main Firepit.

9:30 AM – 11:30 AM — Morning Scoutcraft Rotations

Scouts head into the field for three immersive 30-minute skill sessions. It's hands-on learning, testing patrols on fire building, camp cooking, knots, wilderness first aid, historical canvas tent pitching, and aerodynamics.

10:30 AM – 2:30 PM — Lions Club Snack Bar

Lions Club snack bar open for Saturday lunch. The Troop 1 Trading Post (grab-and-go snacks and candy) is open all weekend.

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM — Lunch & Free Time

Individual troop lunch and free time.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM — Afternoon Scoutcraft Rotations

Scouts complete the remaining three skill stations from the morning rotation lineup.

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM — The Scoutcraft Relay

Patrols put teamwork and the day’s skills to the test in a fast-paced relay. It's a cheerful, high-energy competition where every Scout plays a role.

4:30 PM – 7:00 PM — Troop Dinners & Free Time

Individual troops prepare dinner at their campsites. Featuring the Scoutmaster Cook-off competition (time TBD).

7:00 PM – 7:30 PM — Scoutmaster & SPL Coffee

Scoutmasters and Senior Patrol Leaders gather at Headquarters for a coffee meeting.

7:30 PM – 10:00 PM — Centennial Campfire

Each troop does at least one skit and one song or run-on. The program may also include an Order of the Arrow presentation.

Sunday, October 11 — Interactive Activities & Community Exhibitions

Community exhibitions, historical demonstrations, and interactive activities. Space is allocated for troop projects and public displays.

7:00 AM – 9:00 AM — Troop Breakfasts & Optional Breakdown

Troop breakfasts at campsites and optional site breakdown for troops departing Sunday. The Lions Club will offer a Sunday breakfast option on site.

9:00 AM – 10:30 AM — Camp-Wide Rocket Launch

All troops participate in a camp-wide rocket launch event.

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM — Interactive Presentations & Displays

Attendees may freely visit various community and special interest stations, including:

  • Orienteering with the New England Orienteering Club or Blue Hills Conservatory
  • K9 Demonstrations by the local Police Department
  • Mushroom Hunting with the Mycological Society
  • Public Safety Displays by the Fire Department and National Grid
  • Mendon Resolves Reenactment coordinated with the Historical Society (reenactment of the Declaration of Independence signing)
  • Civil War & Revolutionary War Cooking Demonstration

12:30 PM — Awards & Closing Ceremony

Awards distribution, closing ceremony, and official end of main programmed events.

Day Visitors & Public Welcome

Day visits are free of charge. Choose a Saturday Scout program visit or the Sunday community demonstration day — or both!

Option A: Saturday Scout Program Visit

Visit on Saturday to watch or participate in the Scoutcraft station rotations, relay competition, and the evening centennial campfire program. A great option for Scout troops attending for the day.

Please register your visit in advance so we can plan for your arrival.

Option B: Sunday Demonstration Day — 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

The community is warmly invited Sunday morning for open exhibitions and interactive stations:

  • K9 demonstrations by the Mendon Police Department
  • Orienteering with the New England Orienteering Club
  • Mushroom identification with the Mycological Society
  • Public safety displays by the Fire Department and National Grid
  • Mendon Resolves reenactment with the Historical Society
  • Civil War & Revolutionary War cooking demonstration

Parking, Food & Access

Primary event and overnight parking is at 98 Inman Hill Road, Mendon, MA 01756 — follow event signage on arrival. Henry P. Clough Elementary School and Miscoe Hill Middle School are available for alternate or backpacking vehicle parking when coordinated with the committee. Full details are on the Camper Resources page.

Food is available for purchase on site from the Lions Club snack bar (Saturday 10:30 AM–2:30 PM, Sunday breakfast) and the Troop 1 Trading Post (snacks and candy, all weekend).

Sunday arrivals should plan to arrive between 10:00 and 10:30 AM to get oriented before programming begins.

Monday, October 12 — Departure & Legacy

Morning: Pack-Out & Cleanup

Final pack-out and thorough post-event cleanup of the Inman Hill site. All troops are expected to uphold Leave No Trace principles before departing. See Event Rules for full camporee rules, including campfires only in portable fire pits (subject to Mendon Fire Chief approval that weekend; dry conditions may mean a fireless weekend).

Full Holiday Weekend

The event runs through Monday to allow troops to take full advantage of the Columbus Day holiday weekend.
